Dr Angeline Chan

Research Fellow

The University of Queensland

Dr Lai Yue Angeline Chan is a peptide chemist. Her main research interest is to discover nature-inspired peptides and develop them into drugs for targeting human diseases. She has extensive experience in peptide/analytical chemistry, proteomics, peptide structure analysis using nuclear magnetic resonance and circular dichroism techniques, and a range of in vitro/in vivo assay development. Most of her work involved peptides from plants (e.g., gourd family, sunflowers, and violets), wasps, spiders, scorpions and bacteria. These studies have made large contributions to the understanding of sequence diversity of a range of disulfide-rich peptides, structure-activity relationships, and for reengineering process. Overall, her research highlights the potential of these peptide therapeutics for the treatment of cancer, obesity, chronic wound, heart and infectious diseases.
