Fatima is interested in exploring the stability and mode of action of antimicrobial peptides such as bacteriocins. This knowledge is important for the application of bacteriocins as biopreservatives and potential agents in pharmaceutical, veterinary and health care products. She also has an interest in synthesising peptides that can be developed into immune checkpoint inhibitors for cancer immunotherapy. Outside the lab she enjoys travelling and exploring new places.
