Prof Nicki Packer
Associate Investigator
Macquarie University
AI Packer’s work has enabled the analysis of glycan structures on proteins using mass spectrometry and bioinformatics, and her research team is now applying these protocols to analysis of glycan changes occurring in bacterial infection and cancer. Her position as Deputy Director of the Biomolecular Discovery Research Centre at MQ and as a Chief Investigator in the ARC Centre of Excellence in Nanoscale BioPhotonics (CNBP) and the ARC Centre of Excellence in Synthetic Biology (CoESB) at MQ will enable her contribution to the molecular analysis required by this centre. AI Packer can also contribute to the industrial translation space as she was a founder and executive of Proteome Systems Ltd an Australian biotechnology company and has worked with biotechnology companies such as Dairy Australia, L’Oreal France, Regeneus Pty Ltd, Minomic International, and Patrys Ltd to translate discoveries. Her ARC CoE Leadership experience will be invaluable for CIPPS in many domains.
