Conference Highlights: CIPPS Retreat, Kingscliff

Between 8-10 May 2024 approximately 120 centre members from across Australia gathered at the Mantra on Salt Beach, Kingscliff, in northern NSW to share their science and broaden their professional skills. The retreat offered talks by CIs, AIs, EMCRs and a poster session. Based on feedback from the last retreat the professional development sessions were run in parallel with separate sessions targeted at PhD students or EMCRs. Sessions included ‘Grant and fellowship writing’; ‘Conquer the Blank Page: Elevate Your Scientific Writing Skills’, ‘Unlock your future: navigate alternative career options with confidence’, ‘Communicating positively’ and ‘Understanding your skills’. 

The relaxed setting provided time and space for members to build and enhance their networks through informal activities and event dinners.
