The centre invited Dr Phaedria Marie St.Hilaire to present a lunch time ‘hour of power’ session on women in STEM, ‘Embracing intersectional diversity through inclusive leadership’, at the 13th International Peptide Symposium 2023, Brisbane. Dr Marie St. Hilaire’s talk was held on the 17th October and was attended by over 120 people. She highlighted research that demonstrates a strong positive correlation between diversity and innovation and the ability for groups to develop creative solutions. She continued to say that without inclusion, the power of diversity cannot be successfully harnessed. She addressed aspects of intersectional diversity and how to nurture an inclusive mind-set so that we can collectively shape a future where everyone has equal opportunity to pursue their passions and excel in their chosen path.
