Huawu completed his PhD at the University of Queensland, supervised by Prof. David J. Craik, Dr. Conan Wang, and Dr. Yen-Hua Huang, where he focused on investigating strategies for designing peptide inhibitors of extracellular and intracellular protein targets including PD-1:PD-L1 and Nrf2:Keap1 interactions for cancer immunotherapy and cyto-protection. Huawu moved to the UK to take up a postdoctoral position in Dr. Louise Walport group at Imperial College London and then seconded to the Francis Crick Institute. He is focusing on using RaPID platform to develop peptide-based tools to investigate the biofunctions of PADI4.
