Dr Andrew Walker

Research Fellow

The University of Queensland

Andy studies invertebrate venoms and silks. He is interested in understanding how the peptides and proteins that make up these supermaterials function, how they have evolved, and how they might be used in biotechnology. Currently he is working on the biochemistry of previously overlooked venoms from caterpillars, robber flies, and assassin bugs, using transcriptomics, proteomics, recombinant expression, and a range of bioassays.
