Dr Luke Dowman
Scientist (Protein Chemistry)
Flagship Pioneering, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA
Luke has wide-ranging interests in the modification of peptides and proteins both in nature and for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes, and specifically, ways in which we can perform this modification either chemically (bioconjugation) or biologically in the lab. He has worked on various related projects within the Payne laboratory including on the role of tyrosine sulfation in insect peptides, the synthesis of sulfation mimics and the development of novel light-driven chemistry to dimerise peptides and modify proteins to provide access to new classes of high-value functional biomolecules.
