Danella West
PhD Student
Monash University
Dany is working on the development of prodrug antibiotics, where inactive precursors can be targeted to the site of infection, and activated only in the presence of bacteria. This strategy is of particular interest as a way to overcome the issue of antibiotic toxicity to the host, as well as for the development of surgical prophylactics that don’t continue to drive antibiotic resistance of hospital superbugs. In her spare time, Dany can usually be found riding horses, rock climbing, or checking out a musical theatre show.
