Marlene L. Rothe
PhD Student
University of Warwick
Marlene is interested in the biosynthesis of peptidyl epoxyketone proteasome inhibitors that form the basis of drugs used to treat multiple myeloma. She investigates the biocatalytic potential of epoxyketone synthases and the ability to use these enzymes for more sustainable production of epoxyketone drugs in the future. Marlene also enjoys talking about natural product research at a range of different outreach events and when she’s not doing or talking science, you will probably find her outdoors either hiking, climbing, or painting.
