Prof Kathy Belov

An expert in comparative genomics, immunogenetics and conservation genetics, Professor Belov has had a leading role in annotating opossum, platypus, tammar wallaby and koala genomes. She has published over 175 peer-reviewed papers, received two Eureka awards, the Crozier medal from the Genetics Society of Australasia, the Fenner medal from Australian Academy of Science, and is a former ARC Future Fellow. CI Belov brings strong leadership as University of Sydney Pro-Vice Chancellor (Global Engagement). She will co-lead the Discover theme to identify peptides and proteins in Australian animals.
